Al Capone
Al Capone was a United States Gangster who terrorized the city of Chicago during Prohibition until he was arrested for tax evasion. Al Capone was born on January 17, 1899 in New York and died January 25, 1947 at the age 48 from syphilis.
There are many important accomplishments and events that happened in Al Capone's life time. One of the important events that happened in Al Capone's life is when he got his left cheek cut and slashed three times, by another man for giving the mans sister an insulting compliment. He eventually had the nickname "Scarface". When Alcohol became illegal Al Capone found it as a opportunity and began brewing liquor illegally to sell to consumers. Another important event in Al Capone's life is the Valentine Massacre. People believed it was Al Capone and his followers who did the massacre. This event was the first step to the actual downfall of Al Capone.
When prohibition was stopped, the gang wars stopped and people could walk the streets without any fear. Al Capone showed other people and citizens that prohibition was a bad thing, gang wars happening and people were scared to walk the streets. Since Al Capone was such a bad person in society at this time it made people realize that prohibition was a bad thing. So i think that is why they stopped prohibition mainly because of Al Capone and all the bad he has done. This is how Al Capone influenced the stopping of Prohibition.
